Trapping Services FAQ
Q: Is trapping really effective?
A: Trapping is a very effective method for population control.
Q: How are the hogs trapped?
A: Large, modern corral-style traps equipped with remote-monitoring technology are used. A rigorous pre-baiting phase is implemented to condition the hogs to enter the trap before it is sprung, maximizing the number caught in a single event.
Hunting Methods (Thermal & Calls)
Q: What hunting methods are employed?
A: Primarily thermal imaging for night operations and specialized calling techniques during the day are utilized.
Q: Why use thermal imaging?
A: Feral hogs are mostly nocturnal. Thermal optics allow for locating and dispatching hogs in complete darkness by detecting their heat signatures, providing a significant advantage that traditional lights cannot match. This increases success rate and efficiency.
Q: How does calling work for hogs?
A: Specific vocalizations are used, often mimicking social grunts or a piglet in distress, to draw hogs out of dense cover during daylight hours. This taps into their protective instincts and often brings them running in to investigate the sound.
